North Yorkshire Moors Railway
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Pickering to Gosmont and Whitby. There is a daily service from late March to early November, with a mixture of steam and diesel locomotives. It is run by the North York Moors Historical Railway Trust, a not-for profit charitable organisation.
We tend to use the railway to enable us to do ‘one way walks’, in particular the walk from Goathland to Grosmont. We usually take the train from Grosmont to Goathland which gives us a mostly downhill walk from Goathland to Grosmont.
